Reviving Lebanese Cinema: Warde Fabrics' Donation to Metropolis

Reviving Lebanese Cinema: Warde Fabrics' Donation to Metropolis

In a bold initiative to rejuvenate cultural vibrancy in Lebanon, Warde Fabrics proudly announces a significant fabric donation aimed at supporting the revival of the renowned Metropolis Cinema in Mar Mkhael. After a hiatus of four years, this gesture not only marks a return of cinematic experiences but also underscores a commitment to the arts and cultural enrichment in the region.

Metropolis Cinema holds a cherished place in the landscape of Lebanese cinema. Established in Hamra in 2006, it initially operated within the intimate confines of al-Madina’s small theatre, quickly becoming a cultural beacon for cinephiles across the country. In 2008, Metropolis moved to Ashrafieh, continuing its mission to bring exceptional films to a diverse audience. Over the years, Metropolis expanded its footprint until the closure of its two Sofil center venues in January 2020, temporarily dimming its lights.

With the support of Warde Fabrics, Metropolis Cinema is poised to reopen its doors with renewed vigor. The fabric donation will not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of the cinema but also symbolizes a commitment to fostering a thriving cultural hub in Lebanon.

Metropolis Cinema has always been distinguished by its steadfast dedication to independent Lebanese, Arab, and international films. It has played a pivotal role in showcasing diverse cinematic voices, encouraging dialogue, and nurturing a deep appreciation for film among audiences of all ages.

The reopening of Metropolis Cinema, supported by Warde Fabrics, signifies a symbol of hope and resilience for Lebanese cinema. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of cultural institutions in Lebanon and a celebration of the power of cinema to inspire, educate, and unite communities.

As Lebanon looks towards a future filled with cultural resurgence, Warde Fabrics remains committed to supporting initiatives that enrich lives and foster creativity. Together, let us celebrate the reopening of Metropolis Cinema—a testament to the resilience of Lebanese cinema and to the enduring power of the arts to unite and inspire us all.
